This new flavour is wonderfully creamy with a subtle tang complimented by the tingling warmth from the jalapeño chili.
The Jalapeno chili is said to originate from Veracruz, a state on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico known for its luscious jungles and stunning waterfalls. here you’ll find this versatile green chili, often pickled and tossed on top of a taco, or blended together with garlic and coriander to produce a creamy and delicious sauce, a staple on the table tops of taquerias. Inspired by this little chili and the food of Veracruz, these tortilla chips were created, both wonderfully creamy and with a tingling warmth and subtle tang.
A few years back, founder Phil set out on what would become quite a serendipitous journey across Mexico. Visiting the milpas, molinos and tortillerias of Mexico, Phil learnt how to make proper corn tortillas. Inspired by the tastes and traditions of Mexico, Phil returned to Ireland and in 2015, along with a great team, he opened the doors to the Tortilleria in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
